The Customer
About Peoples Bank & Trust
Peoples Bank & Trust is a community bank based in Pana, Illinois. Thirteen branches spread across central Illinois, from Charleston to just west of Springfield. Markets range from towns of 500 to towns of 20,000.
In 2025, the bank invested in a network-wide rollout of Interactive Teller Machines. ITMs let a customer handle deposits, loan payments, and a live face-to-face video call with a real teller, all from the car. It's a real upgrade. The catch: a customer pulling up to a brand new ITM has to know what it is, how it works, and that yes, there's still a human on the other end.

The return on investment is a year and a half, two years. We control the content. We can do dedicated marketing, IRA specials, real-time updates. It brightens up all of our facilities.

THE JOB
Three problems, solved at once
Explain the ITM, right at the lane
ITMs are quickly becoming an expectation in community banking; banks without them risk losing customers to competitors that have them. The bank wanted lane-side signage to ease the transition, particularly for customers who would benefit from a clear introduction to the new machines.
Revitalizing Peoples Bank's Digital Signage
Hardware
18 outdoor displays
One to three per branch, mounted at the entrance to the drive-thru lane. Outdoor-rated for central Illinois weather.Software
Centralized Content Management
The bank's marketing team and its agency, Marketicity, run every screen from a single Navori dashboard. Each branch currently rotates six to eight messages every three to five seconds. The bank's pre-April-15 IRA promotion went live across all 13 branches in one push.
Our design team ran a hands-on training session before we wrapped, so the bank's team can build, schedule, and update content without going back through us.
Install
Turn-key 13-location rollout
Nick Beitz, our installation manager, walked through every branch with the Peoples Bank team before any equipment arrived. Community bank president Dale Boyer joined site surveys, mapping conduit runs and truck access ahead of the install crew.Installation ran through January and February, with the network live ahead of the bank's April marketing push.
Thus far, it has achieved our goal, and I would say yes, we would probably look to do it again.

Recurring ad spending replaced
Peoples Bank stepped out of billboard contracts and reduced its newspaper buys, managing its marketing channel in-house.
Dale Boyer's Reasons for choosing the Howard Company
One company for the whole project
Hardware, software, install, training, and ongoing support through one team. No vendor finger-pointing when something needs attention.
Documented work with financial institutions
Dale Boyer found Howard through earlier banking work, which gave him a reference he could share with his team before signing.
Post-install assistance
After a vehicle clipped the monitor at the Charleston branch, our team came back and raised the mount 14 inches. No scope debate, no scheduling holdup.
Experience with multi-site rollouts
Thirteen branches, winter, central Illinois, every site open through the install. That is a standard project type that the Howard Company is familiar with.
Today:
Eighteen displays live across 13 branches. Peoples Bank runs its own content from a single dashboard, supports its ITM rollout at the lane, and has stepped out of its billboard and newspaper spend.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions banks ask us most often when they are considering a similar project.
How much does outdoor digital signage for a bank cost?
Fully installed, outdoor digital signage for banks runs about $8,500 to $9,000 per monitor. For Peoples Bank & Trust, 18 displays across 13 branches paid for themselves in under two years compared with ongoing billboard and newspaper advertising costs.
How long does a multi-branch digital signage rollout take?
A 13-location outdoor signage rollout typically takes about five months from initial inquiry to all sites live. Peoples Bank & Trust submitted its inquiry in September 2025 and had all 18 displays operating by February 2026, including site surveys, CMS training, and installations completed through the winter.
What is the ROI on digital signage compared with billboard advertising for banks?
Outdoor digital signage replaces recurring billboard costs of $650 to $700 per location per month and newspaper ads at $300 to $350 each. With one-time installation costs of about $8,500 to $9,000 per monitor, payback typically lands between 18 and 24 months. After that, the bank owns the advertising channel outright.
What content management system works best for multi-branch banking signage?
Navori is a centralized content management system that lets banks and their marketing agencies manage signage content across every branch from a single dashboard. Updates push to all locations in seconds. Peoples Bank & Trust uses Navori to run six to eight rotating messages per branch, managed by its internal marketing team and its agency, Marketicity.
Can digital signage support an ITM (Interactive Teller Machine) rollout?
Yes. Outdoor digital signage at the drive-thru entrance is the most direct way to introduce customers to new ITM technology. Screens can explain what an ITM does, walk customers through using it, direct them to the correct lane, and confirm that a live teller remains available through the video connection.
Can digital signage display weather alerts or branch closures automatically?
Yes. Navori and similar platforms support weather-triggered content that can automatically display inclement weather notices, branch closures, or seasonal messaging based on real-time conditions. The capability is part of the standard deployment and can be activated whenever the bank is ready.
